Hey, I’m J.
I grew up in a home where I believed money was always scarce, where I felt I had to be perfect to be accepted, and where I felt I had to pursue the traditional lifestyle (college, get a job, get married, have kids) in order to be successful. After years of doing what was considered the “normal” path of life, I realized I was unhappy with where my life was heading, and I thought there surely had to be more to life than what I was experiencing. I needed to have a job that made me feel more complete, and one that would still allow me to be a loving wife and mother. I needed to be able to help others discover their potential and overcome barriers to achieving their goals, but in an unconventional manner.
Initially, all I could see were reasons why I couldn’t do this: 1) I needed to keep a secure job with benefits because I am responsible for caring for my three daughters. 2) I didn’t have the income to support me starting a business venture. Over time, I became jealous of those I saw that lived a life without barriers, and wondered why I couldn’t do the same. Then, it hit me one day: If other caregivers could find a meaningful, unconventional job that made them happy and allowed them the freedom to be there for their family, then so could I! All I needed to do was change my mindset and break through the limiting beliefs that dictated my life. It was then that I truly adopted an “I can do all things through Christ” mentality.
As a result of my mindset shift, I went on to write my first book, 11 Ways to JumpStart Your Thinking, and I started a new, more focused blog to provide actionable tips to creatives who need help shifting their mindset, too. Now, my life feels more aligned with what I was meant to do: help others shift their mindset to make and achieve purpose-driven goals. I want to empower other creative women to break the cycle of working merely for a paycheck with little to no time for their family, and instead use their gifts to create a life of freedom–the freedom to care for their family while engaging in meaningful work that aligns with their purpose.
